Huge Liverpool development site to be sold months after winning planning permission

A huge Liverpool site that only won planning permission for 650 apartments, a new hotel and shops in October has been brought to the market.

CBRE has been appointed to sell the 1.97acre mixed-use development on the former Norton's Scrap Metal site.

In October, Chaloner Street Developments won permission from Liverpool Council to build the scheme including three towers ranging between 17 and 27 storeys.

But CBRE announced on Tuesday it had been instructed by the firm to sell 'Norton Point' for an undisclosed amount, with "high interest" anticipated.

The scheme includes permission for 650 residential apartments, a 240-bedroom hotel and 43,500 sq ft of commercial, office and leisure space along with basement car parking facilities.

It's been brought to market by CBRE's northern specialists and joint agent David Sayer Consultancy Ltd

Mike Gorman, senior director of UK development and residential capital markets at CBRE, said: "The development of Norton Point will add a vibrant mix of residential, leisure and retail accommodation to one of the most lively and creative areas of Liverpool City Centre.

"The scheme offers an exciting opportunity to build a new complex that will sit alongside a number of Liverpool's premium apartment schemes and iconic landmarks. We anticipate high interest in this opportunity."

Advertising the site for sale, CBRE said it occupies an "unrivalled position" within Liverpool's 'Creative Quarter', and is prominently located fronting Chalenor Street and Upper Parliament Street.

The property is sold with Freehold disposal and vacant possession. The area is home to a variety of creative and digital industries and a number of independent pubs, bars, restaurants and shops. Significant development to the public realm has transformed it into one of the most popular locations to live in the city.
