Huge increase in illegal dumping across Dublin as council staff struggle to clean it due to limited resources

Illegal dumping has increased considerably across Dublin recently, leaving councils struggling to address it as they work with less staff.

Dublin City Council has issued a plea to perpetrators to stop the thoughtless act, which takes staff away from other parts of the council due to the clean up.

The disgusting images shared by the council show bags of rubbish, piles of clothes and discarded household items thrown across Dublin streets.

The council also reminded everyone that waste collection services are still operating.

They said: "We have seen a huge increase in illegal dumping all over the city. At a time were we are at a reduced capacity in terms of staff, removal of all of this impacts upon our other services we need to provide. Again, we ask people to please stop.

"Waste collection services are still going on as normal and if bring banks are full we ask you to bring your waste back home and try another time."
