A staggering 32 prized pedigree pups including six pregnant chihuahuas have been seized in a planned raid on a premises in north Dublin.
The value of the puppies - which also included a number of much sought after pugs and Jack Russells - is estimated to be in excess of €150,000, gardai revealed tonight.
The dogs were seized alongside four horses during planned searches in the Baldoyle area of north Dublin as part of ongoing investigations into criminal activity, gardai revealed tonight.
The operation was carried out by the Divisional Crime Task Force DMR North based in Santry, supported by local detectives and uniformed Gardaí as well as animal rescue agencies.
Gardai said in a statement: "The dogs seized included Chihuahuas, Jack Russells and Pugs. On examination, six of the Chihuahuas were found to be pregnant.
"All of the animals seized are now in the care of appropriate animal rescue agencies. There were no planned arrests in this phase of the investigation."
Gardai added that potential value of the dogs recovered is estimated to be in excess €150k."
They added: "Don't be #SoldAPup always report illegal activity."
