The only Irish-trained horse in this afternoon's Scottish Grand National has been backed into the favourite as punters have gambled on the country's recent Cheltenham and Aintree success.
Mister Frogpatches, trained by P A Fahy, has surged from over 10/1 to 15/2 with race sponsors Coral.
Danny Mullins will be on board the favourite in Ayr at 3.35 pm and many will be pinning their hopes on the seven-year-old.
"Given the domination of Irish-trained runners at last month's Cheltenham Festival and last weekend's Grand National, it's not surprising to see the one Irish raider in the Coral Scottish National well-backed for the race," said Coral's David Stevens.
Meanwhile, Lucinda Russell hopes to keep the Grand National title in Scotland on board Mighty Thunder.
“He’s a very straightforward horse, still only a novice chaser – but I’d like to think we’ve taught him well at home,” she said of the eight-year-old
“We gave him an extra season over hurdles, because his jumping wasn’t that brilliant, and I think that’s benefited him.
“He hasn’t run that often, but he’s certainly taking himself to the heights.”
