Network Rail has released a 4.46 acre brownfield site adjacent to Truro railway station for residential development.
If granted planning permission, the site will provide much needed new housing within walking distance of Truro’s main retail and business district.
The site off Station Road is currently occupied by two large dated warehouse buildings totalling circa 72,000 sq ft which are no longer required to support the railway. Property consultants Alder King have been appointed to market the freehold of the site.
Network Rail, which is selling the site, has already made pre-application planning enquiries of Cornwall Council’s planning department and received a positive response to the principle of residential development.
Currently accessed via a level crossing off Station Hill, it is anticipated that developers will seek to create a new access off Dobbs Lane to the west of the site.
