Huge food festival featuring some of UK's top chefs is coming to Cardiff's Bute Park

A huge foodie festival is coming to Cardiff with some of the UK's top chefs to give demonstrations and tips. Foodies' Festival is set to stop in Bute Park, Cardiff, in May as part of a UK tour. The festival will take over part of the city centre park from Saturday, May 5 to Sunday, May 7.

The festival, which is also stopping in locations such as Brighton, London and Edinburgh among many more, promises to provide live music, cocktail clubs, demonstrations from top chefs, as well as a whole host of food stalls. The festival promises to bring Michelin star celebrity chefs as well as local telent together to show off their skills.

In Cardiff, so far, Hywel Griffith who appeared on Great British Menu 2021 and opened Beach House in Oxwich, has been announced to appear. Tommy Heaney the Head Chef and owner of much praised Heaneys Cardiff, is also included in the line up, as well as Anand George of The Purple Poppadom known for his take on traditional Indian dishes.

Launched in Edinburgh in 2006 and now with 12 festivals around the country, Foodies' Festival is a celebration of quality local food and drink and the largest food and drink festival in the UK.

Each festival is a celebration of the food in each region, with local artisan producers, local street food traders and local food and drink producers to take part. At the heart of the festival are the theatres, giving top local chefs the opportunity to show off their cooking skills to their audience, who can take the recipes home with them.

In the Cake and Bake Theatre local bakers will join Bake Off winners and finalists baking and making sweet treats. In the Drinks Theatre wine, champagne, beer, cider and other drinks experts run tutored tastings every hour and the Kids' Cookery theatre will give children a chance to taste new flavours and learn basic cooking skills.

On the Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH) live music stage top artists perform throughout the event and monies raised are donated to Crisis. While the Cardiff specific line up has yet to be announced for this stage, across the festival artists such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Natalie Imbruglia and Fleur East.
