Police are searching for witnesses after a deliberate fire was set on the coastline of Moray.
We told yesterday how fire crews rushed to the scene of the blaze yesterday around 4.40pm.
Dramatic pictures showed how the flames had ripped through the wooded area on the coastline in the Kingston area of Moray.
An eyewitness described how fire crews at one point had to back off due to high winds spreading the massive flames.
Police have now confirmed they have launched an investigation and are treating the fire as wilful.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson described yesterday how the blaze spanned around 75 meters of woodland area near the coast.
Constable Boyle, of Lossiemouth Community Policing Team, said: “Thankfully no one has been injured as a result of the fire however we are now treating the fire as wilful.
“We are appealing for anyone who has information or who was in the vicinity at the time of the outbreak of fire to contact Police.”
Anyone who has any information, please contact police via telephone number 101, quoting incident number 2318 of 30 March 2021. Alternatively calls can be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 anonymously.
