A huge fire ripped through a historic West Lothian building yesterday.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue service raced to this scene in the early hours of the morning and managed to extinguish the flames.
Fire crews confirmed no one was injured as a result of the massive blaze but the local community council reported that this was not the first time the building had been targeted.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.44am on Thursday, June 10 to reports of a derelict building on fire at Limefield Mains, West Calder.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and firefighters extinguished rubbish which was on fire near to the building.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
Police Scotland told The Courier they have not received any reports on the matter but the local community council say they are liaising with Community Sergeant Jack.
Polbeth Community Council say that more now must be done to protect the historic site.
A spokesperson said online: “Many thanks to Livingston and Sighthill Fire Brigade who put the fires at Limefiled Mains out today.
“Please be vigilant and if you notice any suspicious behaviours in the local area it has been then recommended by Sergeant Keith Jack to report to 101.”
