Huge fire on Gower visible from miles around shuts road as police warn of 'dangerous driving conditions'

A huge grass fire has broken out again on Gower, the latest in a series of blazes in the area.

Police are warning people to avoid the area as firefighters from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service tackle the blaze.

The fire is visible from a wide area of Swansea with people from miles away sharing pictures of a sky lit up orange and clouds of smoke hovering above the Gower .

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “Officers are assisting with road closures on B4271 North Gower Road between Three Crosses and Ilston due to large Common fires in area.  Dangerous driving conditions in locality so please take care and avoid area if possible.”
