Huge fire in Hartcliffe attracts a crowd as cars 'deliberately' torched

An investigation is ongoing after cars were deliberately set on fire at a property in Hareclive Road, Hartcliffe. Avon Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at just gone 10pm yesterday (Friday, March 25).

Two fire engines from Bedminster and one from Temple attended the incident. A spokesman confirmed: "Six vehicles were deliberately set alight. A garage and garden furniture was also damaged."

No-one was hurt in the incident. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze, which attracted a crowd of onlookers.

The incident was concluded after an hour. Police and a fire investigation officer are liaising to determine the cause of the fire.

This morning the burnt-out vehicles were being loaded on to a recovery vehicle

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “At just before 10.15pm on Friday (March 25), officers on patrol came across a number of cars on fire in the front garden of a property in Hareclive Road, Bristol.

"We’re working with the fire and rescue service to establish the cause of the fire and enquiries are ongoing. If anyone has information about this incident, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222071504.”
