Huge fire erupts at Scotland zoo as inferno rips through building sending smoke into air

Fire crews are battling a blaze at Fife Zoo in Scotland today.

The park in Cupar had to be evacuated after smoke and flames were seen pouring out of one of the zoo buildings on Sunday, July 5.

Seven fire engines have been dispatched to the site, with flames can be seen in the roof of the building - the Mirror UK reports.

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed firefighters were on the scene.

"We received the call around 12.11pm and are in attendance," she said

Firefighters have been forced to evacuate visitors while they battle with the huge blaze.

Emergency services are now at the scene of the fire in the zoo.

Dramatic pictures show smoke and flames pouring out of a building at the attraction.

In a Facebook post, Fife Zoo said: "All humans and animals are safe.

"All emergency teams are on site to contain the fire. Thank you for the concern."

But, according to reports, keepers were able to safely remove marmosets from their enclosure - located closest to the fire.

Crews were called at around 12pm today.
