Huge fire engulfs restaurant in Delhi as 21 are killed and dozens injured

  • At least 21 people have died in a fire that engulfed the Lemon Green Restaurant and an attached hotel in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi , on Wednesday morning.
  • Around 40 individuals were rescued from the blaze, with many rushed to hospitals for treatment, some suffering from severe burns.
  • The fire, which started around 9.45 am, is believed to have originated in the restaurant, though the exact cause is still under investigation.
  • Local reports indicate that some of the victims were foreign nationals, with one former lawmaker claiming they were primarily South African.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences and announced financial assistance of Rs 200,000 (£1,550) for the families of those who died.
