A huge fire has broken out in Bradford with locals saying they heard a "loud bang" in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called out to the enormous blaze on Legrams Lane, which is near to the university, at around 2.45am.
Residents are being urged to shut their doors and windows due to smoke as the fire rages, with at least 18 fire engines at the scene.
Pictures emerged on social media in the early hours of Wednesday showing huge plumes of smoke billowing over the city as a fire lit up the sky.
One eyewitness who captured video footage said multiple fire engines were on the scene after local residents were woken up to the blare of sirens at around 2.45am.
More pumps from out of the area were also said to be rushing to the scene.
It is not yet known what is alight or if there have been any injuries and witnesses have said the fire could have spread to neighbouring buildings.
In a statement West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service urged people living nearby to shut their doors and windows.
The service said: "Firefighters from across the service are currently tackling a large building fire in the Legrams Lane area of Bradford.
"Local residents living in the Shearbridge area of Bradford are advised to keep doors and windows closed due to large plumes of smoke in the area."
