Huge fire breaks out in Scots industrial estate

Firefighters are tackling a blaze in a Scots industrial estate.

Fire crews and police have been called to the scene at the Heathhall Industrial Estate in Dumfries.

Nithsdale Police have shared a video on twitter within the last hour of dark smoke billowing out of an industrial building at the scene.

In a short statement, the police say there is no risk to the public but ask them to close their windows.

It reads: "#Police in Dumfries are currently assisting (firefighters) with an ongoing incident in Heathhall Industrial Estate.

"There is no ongoing risk to the general public but we ask that you close windows and doors at this time. The Fire and Rescue Service are dealing with the incident."

The fire has since been controlled but police remain on the scene.

A tweet at 1.40pm read:"The fire is now under control but Fire and Rescue Staff remain on site dealing with other hazards. We ask that the public stay away from the scene"

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 11.54am on Monday, June 1 to reports of a fire at Heathall Industrial Estate, Dumfries and Galloway.

“Operations Control have mobilised seven appliances to the incident and crews remain in attendance.”
