Huge find at Dublin Port as Revenue officers seize large sum of cash

Revenue officers seized a total of over €12,000 as part of two separate incidents at Dublin Port.

Over €4,300 was found after officers stopped a car travelling to the UK yesterday.

A three-month cash detention order was granted at the Dublin District Court by Judge John Hughes.

Additionally, nearly €8,000 was discovered at the port in a car travelling to Romania via the UK on Saturday.

Officers were granted a three-month cash detention order by Judge Treasa Kelly at Dublin District Court.

A Revenue spokesman said: "In both cases, the cash is suspected to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity and is detained by Revenue in accordance with proceeds of crime legislation.

"Investigations are ongoing.

"This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
