'Huge excitement' as KETTAMA & Tommy Holohan's Samba Boys top EMERGE bill

The promotor of EMERGE Music Festival has told of his excitement at landing one of the best acts in the country for this year's event.

Samba Boys - made up of KETTAMA and Tommy Holohan - top an all-star line-up at Boucher Road Playing Fields over the August bank holiday weekend.

Promoter Joe Dougan told Belfast Live: "We're over the moon to have secured Samba Boys this year.

"KETTAMA has already cemented himself as one of the top acts in the whole country and there's huge excitement about Samba Boys, his new project with Tommy Holohan.

"Landing an act like this in just our second year is a testament to the crowd and scene that's forming in Northern Ireland.

"Acts are seeing EMERGE as a festival that they want to play and I know that the response they get will be great in August."

As many as 20,000 per day are expected for the festival on August 26 and 27.

Saturday is headlined by Liverpool's house kingpins CamelPhat (of 'Cola' fame), along with the high-energy Australian DJ Mall Grab and arguably the first lady of techno, Nina Kraviz.

On Sunday, hometown heroes Bicep will be back in Belfast with their legendary live set, demonstrating why they are now one of the biggest draws in electronic music.

There's dance music royalty, with Carl Cox bringing his hybrid live/DJ set to Belfast, and techno heads will have plenty to keep them happy from Belgian DJ Charlotte De Witte and the relative newcomer Skin On Skin, whose Boiler Room debut in Belfast is nearing a million views on YouTube.

Elsewhere on day one, you can look forward to big-room techno from UK veteran Alan Fitzpatrick, cutting-edge garage from Manchester's Salute, hard dance from Charlie Sparks, blk. and Fionn Curran, and crowd-pleasing Belfast DJ Mark Blair.

On day two, Detroit's Robert Hood will be performing with daughter Lyric as Floorplan, Berlin techno duo Fjaak, ecstatic house from Heidi, Denis Sulta and local boy Hammer, and hard acid from Italian duo 999999999.

Weekend tickets are already on sale, with day tickets being released on Friday March 3 at 12pm.

Tickets are available from emergebelfast.com.
