Huge emergency services response as woman and dog rescued from water in Reddish Vale

Emergency services raced to rescue a woman and her dog from the water at a park in Stockport this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses report seeing police, fire engines, and ambulances rush to the aid of the woman at River View in Reddish Vale Country Park at around 12:30pm this afternoon (Thursday March 16). The woman and dog were rescued and left in the care of ambulance services.

Fire services were in attendance at the park for around 45 minutes, using a short extension ladder to help the pair to safety. Their condition is currently unknown.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 12.30pm this afternoon (Thursday 16th March), two fire engines from Stockport central and Offerton fire station along with the Technical Response Unit and support fire engine from Ashton and Water Incident Unit from Eccles were called to reports of a person in the water on River View, Reddish Vale.

“Crews arrived quickly at scene. Firefighters wearing water gear used a short extension ladder to rescue one woman and a dog from the water. The woman was then left in the care of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.”

“Firefighters were in attendance for around forty-five minutes.”
