Huge emergency service response in Glasgow city centre after horror crash

A horror collision in Glasgow sparked a huge emergency service response in Glasgow city centre as officers locked down the scene.

The crash took place on Newton Street, near the junction with St Vincent Street, in the city’s Charing Cross area at around 5.10pm on Sunday.

Images from the scene show a number of police vehicles along with fire appliances and ambulances in attendance.

Officers say some of the occupants were taken to hospital, but it’s understood they didn’t suffer serious injuries.

St Vincent Street has reopened westbound at Newton Street after closing for a short time.

A police spokesman said: “Emergency services were alerted to a road traffic collision in Newton Street, Glasgow, at 5.10pm on Sunday.

“Some of the occupants were conveyed to hospital for treatment.

“Officers are still at the scene and inquiries are continuing.”
