Huge Dublin Port find as sniffer dog makes massive €1.2 million drugs bust

Clever detector dog James sniffed out a whopping €1.2 million worth of illegal drugs at Dublin Port yesterday.

A man in his 50s was arrested by the gardai after the items were discovered concealed in suitcases that were stored in the driver’s cab of a commercial vehicle.

A total of 55 kgs of herbal cannabis and 2 kgs of cannabis-infused "jelly sweets" were seized by Revenue officers.

The vehicle had disembarked a ferry from Holyhead.

A Revenue spokesman said: "These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
