IMPHAL: Amid the Covid-19 induced total curfew in Manipur, different government agencies have confiscated huge consignments of drugs from different places in Imphal in the last couple of days.
On Thursday, a team of anti-smuggling unit of the customs division, Imphal seized 8,550 grams of brown sugar worth Rs eight crore, seventy five lakh from a truck driven by one Md Tamijur Rahaman (31) of Paobitek area in Thoubal district at the Mantripukhri area, sources said.
The drugs were found wrapped in eleven packets, they said, adding that the individual has been remanded to judicial custody by the chief judicial magistrate (Imphal East). Meanwhile, Imphal West district police pulled up two persons along with 50,000 World is Yours (WY) tablets on Friday evening at Nityaipat Chuthek in Imphal city.
