Huge crowds gather outside Buckingham Palace to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

Massive crowds have gathered to pay their respects following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's death was announced this evening after earlier statements from the palace marking concerns around her health.

All of her children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, rushed to be by her side. The death of the longest reigning monarch the country has ever seen has brought about thousands of tributes from politicians, celebrities and people from across the world.

Now, people have converged on Buckingham Palace to be together in their time of mourning. They have laid flowers and left other tributes to her.

People in Manchester have been advised to leave flowers in St Ann's Square if they want to pay their respects.

Newly titled King Charles III released his own statement paying tribute to his mother.

He said: "The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world."
