Huge crowds have gathered in Glasgow’s summer hotspot Kelvingrove Park despite current coronavirus restrictions urging people to “stay at home”.
Sunny weather has brought many to the popular west end park with witnesses sharing images of large crowds soaking up the good weather.
Police say they have officers on patrol throughout the park to ensure the area remains “safe for everyone to enjoy.”
Glasgow North West Police tweeted: "Community Officers are out patrolling in Kelvingrove Park today, Understandably people are out enjoying the rare moment of sunshine, we'll be there to keep the park safe for everyone to enjoy.”
Meanwhile a popular Edinburgh park has also been mobbed with people enjoying the sunshine despite covid rules.
People have descended on the Meadows this evening for, what one local described as, a "massive Paddy’s Day rave".
Our sister title Edinburgh Live report that there appears to be no social distancing in place, with one resident sharing a video from earlier in the evening, writing: "Here we go again."
The stay at home guidance which came into force on January 5 remains in place until April 2.
From April 26, six people from up to three households will be able to meet outdoors and plans to remove indoor restrictions are pencilled in for May 17.
Many shared frustrations with the scenes on the social media.
One said: "Hundreds gathered drinking in Kelvingrove park. Loudly discussing parties they're heading to next. Police may be present but they're doing nothing to stop this."
Another added: "I know it’s nice weather out, and I know it’s St Patrick’s Day, but seriously? We have a few months to go & crowds have crowded into Kelvingrove. @NicolaSturgeon I hope the police will do more about this than they did when Rangers fans flooded into George Sq."
Police Scotland said: "“Around 4.30pm on Wednesday, 17 March, 2021, police received a report of a large crowd gathering within Kelvingrove Park.
“Officers are in attendance and are engaging with the members of the public. Those involved are heeding the police’s advice and are dispersing.
“There have been no arrests and no-one has been issued with a fixed penalty notice. Officers will continue to patrol the area.”
