Hugely popular Liverpool rock band The Lightning Seeds will play a special open-air concert in Wirral this year.
The band will perform at Birkenhead Park this September as part of Wirral’s Borough of Culture celebrations.
The legendary band will headline an evening of live music at the park, alongside The Christians and China Crisis on Sunday, September 8.
The Lightning Seeds will perform their homecoming concert as the finale to a weekend filled with events including the new Wirral Food and Drink Festival and a huge performance by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Councillor Christine Spriggs, cabinet member for culture and tourism, said: “We are thrilled to bring Lightning Seeds, The Christians and China Crisis to Birkenhead Park this September.
“These incredible bands have collectively and individually helped shape the Merseyside music scene, producing classic hits of their own and working with incredible artists.
“Their instantly recognisable songs have been adored by music fans from across the globe and showcased the talent of our city region.
“2019 has been an exciting year for Wirral as Liverpool City Region’s Borough of Culture. Wirral Council have developed a ground-breaking programme, featuring unmissable events like this.
“The first weekend of September is shaping up to be an incredible celebration as Birkenhead Park plays host to a number of stellar events.”

Prices start from £17.50 per adult, £10 per child and under fives go free.
