Huge cocaine seizure in raid at Kirkby home

Eight kilograms of suspected cocaine was seized in a raid on a Kirkby home.

Police teams executed a warrant at a property in the Northwood area of the town on Thursday evening.

Search squads found significant quantities of what is thought to have been the Class A drug and arrested two people.

The Minstead Avenue home was targeted by officers at 5.45pm, leading to the haul.

A 39-year-old man from Kirkby and a 41-year-old woman, also from Kirkby, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

They were both taken to police stations for questioning as enquiries continue.

Chief Inspector Tony Jones, of Merseyside Police's specialist MATRIX unit, said: "This find represents a significant amount of drugs taken off the streets of Merseyside, which will disrupt the operations of those who spread the misery of drug supply on our streets.

"Our enquiries continue today and meanwhile, I would encourage anyone who suspects that drugs are being stored or supplied in their communities to come forward, and we will take positive action."
