Huge Christmas tractor convoy makes its way through Liverpool

A festive procession of tractors travelled through Liverpool tonight to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

People turned out across the city to watch the unusual spectacle as dozens of tractors trussed up with tinsel and twinkly lights, made their way through the streets.

It’s the second year running the Liverpool Tractor Convoy has taken place, after local farmer Olly Harrison was inspired by a similar event on the Isle of Mann.

Tonight’s event was aiming to raise £50,000 for Alder Hey and the convoy was also taking donations to Fans Supporting Food Banks in Stanley Park.

The convoy set off from Tarbock Green just after 6pm and made its way to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, before taking in parts of north Liverpool, the city centre and south Liverpool.

Farmers travelled from all over the North West, some as far as 30 miles, to take part in the event. The dazzling tractors were adorned with fairy lights and Christmas decorations creating a wonderfully festive atmosphere for those who turned out to watch the convoy.

Olly told the ECHO: "Charities have taken a hammering due to covid so are in desperate need of support”. People wanting to make a donation can do so on the Festive Farmers Just Giving page or by texting TRACTOR to 70450.
