New EuroMillions rules mean players can win even more on the life-changing lottery.
EuroMillions has announced the maximum jackpot will increase by €60m, up from €190m to €250m. Currently the jackpot is capped at €190m and does not increase, even if nobody wins. But the changes enforced from Friday February 7 mean the jackpot will rise to €200m, Wales Online reports.
The €200m cap will remain in place for a maximum of four weeks, before a 'must be won' draw which would see top prize money filtered down to players who have correctly identified some, but not all of numbers - if nobody correctly picks the jackpot-winning seven numbers.
After that, the next maximum jackpot will rise by €10m. Once that cap is reached, the same process will repeat, until a new maximum cap of €250m.
More money will be taken out of the prize fund and added to the jackpot - 50 per cent for the first five draws - which means it will take just eight draws to get to €100m, instead of the current 11. That means players can ultimately win a bigger jackpot, and the jackpot will grow faster. The downside is prize amounts for lower winning combinations will drop. In short, the top prizes will be bigger but the pay outs for smaller prizes will be less.
There will be no change to the price of EuroMillions tickets. Tickets for Friday's draw cost £2.50 online.
There will also be more 'Super Draws' during the year - rising from two to three, and there are some small changes to the Milliion Maker raffles.
To celebrate the big changes on Friday, February 7, the first 'Super Draw' will take place with a special jackpot of £105million.
