Huge cannabis farm uncovered in former manse in tiny Scots village after fire

Cops called to a fire in a former church manse found a massive cannabis farm inside.

Police were alerted the blaze on Monday at the Manse on the Square in Lumsden- a small village in rural Aberdeenshire.

Fire crews and cops attended the scene and extinguished the flames.

When they arrived they also found an alleged cannabis cultivation inside.

Pictures from the scene today show white-suited forensics cops searching the property.

Emergency vehicles are seen outside the home while three huge skips have been filled by police.

In some of the bins can be seen huge dirt piles and green stems from plants, while large pots filled with dirt were also seen being pulled out.

Nobody was injured in the blaze.

Lumsden has a population of less than 400 as of 2009.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 10.35pm on Monday, 10 May, 2021, we received a report of a fire at a property in Lumsden.

“Emergency services attended and a cannabis cultivation was located within the property.

“There were no reports of any injuries and enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 4000 of 10 May, 2021.”
