Huge brawl broke out during a Clemson-South Carolina charity hockey game

The Clemson Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks are in-state rivals, so it should come as no surprise that the schools aren’t too fond of each other.

But when it comes to a charity club hockey game, you’d think that the two sides would be able to move past those petty differences for the sake of a good cause. That worked out beautifully during Saturday’s charity game at Bon Secours Wellness Arena until, well, it didn’t.

In the third period, South Carolina forward Cameron Mecca took a hard hit from a Clemson player, which sparked a full-out line brawl. Even the refs got involved, throwing a player down in an attempt to stop the fight.

That was absolute mayhem.

And somehow, the game continued after that. We’ll never doubt the intensity of college club hockey scrimmages ever again.

South Carolina rallied to tie the game before losing in a shootout, 5-4.
