Huge blow for Dublin as Eamonn Dillon ruled out of All-Ireland Championship

Dublin will be without star corner forward Eamonn Dillon this summer after he picked up an injury in training.

The Naomh Fionnbarra man will be a huge loss to Mattie Kenny's side, with 'Trollier' providing an important goal threat in the capital's inside forward line.

And with their Leinster Championship opener against Antrim approaching this weekend, Kenny admitted he's gutted for the veteran.

"I'm really disappointed for Trollier himself," Kenny told FM104 after training on Tuesday.

"He'd got himself, as he does every year, into great condition. He worked so hard in a difficult period there with the pandemic and Covid.

"He came back, and he was going really, really well but unfortunately he picked up this injury, that's going to rule him out for this year's intercounty championship.

"He has started his rehab and he hopes to be back with his club in September or October.

"It's a blow for him personally, and it's a blow for us also. He's a top marksman, a top inside-forward and one of the best inside-forwards in the game today.

"He's been a huge servant for Dublin hurling."
