Huge blow for Chelsea and Liverpool as Thorgan Hazard confirms summer transfer

Thorgan Hazard has confirmed his move from Borussia Monchengladbach to Borussia Dortmund.

With 10 goals and 10 assists to his name in the Bundesliga this season, it's easy to see why the Belgian international has been on the radar of some of European football's biggest clubs.

However, it's been revealed by the 26-year-old that the runners-up to Bayern Munich in this season's title race have won the race for his signature and his move will be completed when the transfer window in Germany opens.

Nice director reveals Olivier Giroud talks amid transfer speculation over Chelsea man's future

"The reasons are clear when you are called by such a great team," he said, as reported by Di Marzio.

"Axel Witsel? It's a good thing that I already know someone at the club."

Confirmation of Hazard to Borussia Dortmund will serve as somewhat of a blow to the Blues as they were being linked with a summer move for the attacking midfielder ironically as a potential replacement for his brother Eden.

German publication Bild  had stated that Maurizio Sarri's side could indeed buy him back as the buy-back clause was only valid for the 2019 summer transfer window.

Furthermore, this transfer is also bad news for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.

According to  reports in January, the Reds boss wanted to lure Hazard to Anfield and were said to be plotting a £31million move. Nothing came of such talks but any plan to go back in for the midfielder will now have to be shelved.
