More than 50 firefighters are tackling a huge blaze at a retail park in Perth this morning.

Fire crews and officers from Police Scotland were called to the St Catherines Retail Park at around 2.25am this morning after reports of a blaze.

It is not known at this stage if anyone has been injured.

The fire within the B&M store spread to the Pets at Home shop. Thankfully no animals were affected due to the blaze.

A Vets4Pets statement on Facebook read: "I’m sorry to share with you that there has been a fire last night at B&M in the St Catherine’s Retail Park in Perth which has partly spread to Pets at Home.

"I can confirm that the animals in Pets at Home are fine due to having their own individual housing and fans. It seems that there has been minimal effects.

"Unfortunately we will not be allowed to open the practice today and all appointments need to be rearranged, but we will keep you updated with news as we receive it."

Due to the fire rail services in the area were cancelled between Perth and Inverness, however ScotRail has said services are starting to return to normal following the earlier disturption.

A statement from the Scottish Fire and Rescue read: "More than 50 of our firefighters are currently tackling a large fire within St Catherines Retail Park in Perth.

"We have mobilised more than 10 fire engines to the scene and residents are asked to avoid the area due to road closures and allow emergency service access."

A Police Scotland statement read: "Police are assisting @fire_scot at St Catherine’s Retail Park in #Perth after a large fire was reported at around 2:25am this morning.

"The car park is closed to the public as emergency services remain on scene."
