Huge blaze breaks out on industrial estate

A fire broke out on an industrial estate with thick smoke seen from miles around. First reports of a fire at Antelope Industrial Estate in Mold were made at around 8am on Tuesday, October 25, and thick smoke was seen coming from the industrial park.

An air ambulance landed in the area and one patient was taken by ambulance to Wrexham Maelor Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: "The fire at Antelope Industrial Park, Rhydymwyn, #Flintshire is now under control. Crews remain at the scene. A significant smoke plume can be seen for a number of miles - we advise local residents to keep windows and doors closed and for people to keep away from the area."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson told North Wales Live : "We were called at approximately 7.50am this morning to reports of a fire on Antelope Industrial Estate in Mold. We deployed an emergency ambulance and were supported by Wales Air Ambulance and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service. One patient was conveyed by road to Wrexham Maelor Hospital for further treatment."

While firefighters were tackling the blaze, local residents were asked to close windows and doors and keep away from the area. A fire service spokesman said: "Local residents are asked to close windows and doors and keep away from the area while firefighters tackle the fire."

The fire was brought under control later the same morning.
