Huge art wall people are being urged to get involved with in borough

Halton residents are being invited to make their mark in a major community art exhibition.

Pixel Art Wall will take the artistic creations of more than 1,000 local residents and combine them into a much larger piece of finished work.

The display itself is huge, measuring in at four metres wide, but will be almost entirely made up of over 1,000 tiny pieces of pixel art, measuring just 60mm x 60mm each.

Each tiny piece of pixel art will be designed by members of the public from Halton and surrounding areas, so any aspiring artist from the local community will have their chance to be part of the project.

The collaborative exhibition - which is based at the Culture HQ in Runcorn Shopping City - comes from the Halton MakeFest project and has been designed by Mako Create.

Using free online software, the Mako Create team will guide anyone who wants to take part through the creative process.

Cllr Paul Nolan, Halton Borough Council's portfolio holder for culture and leisure, said: "It’s great to see over a thousand residents from Halton and beyond participating in a truly collaborative piece of innovative and ingenious art work.

"A great addition to the Culture HQ gallery.”

The project forms part of the Borough of Culture 2021 celebrations. Halton currently holds the culture title, which is awarded annually by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority on a rotating basis to each of the six local authorities that make up the city region.

Culture HQ is open every Thursday to Saturday 10am -2pm. Or visit www.celebratehalton.co.uk/culturehq
