Huge area around site of illegal rave in Carrington will be covered by dispersal order this weekend - police can arrest anyone who refuses to move on

A dispersal order has been issued for a large part of Carrington this weekend after up to 2,000 people attended an illegal rave.

The order gives police the power to move people out of the area - and arrest anyone who refuses.

It covers a large area around Carrington, including the brownfield site land where an illegal rave was held last Saturday (June 13).

The order comes into effect at 5.30pm this evening (Friday) and will be enforced for 48 hours.

Up to 2,000 people attended the rave last weekend. Three people were stabbed and a woman was raped.

Some 4,000 attended a second rave in a field near Daisy Nook Country Park in  Failsworth. A 20-year-old man died of a suspected drug overdose after attendending the event.

GMP Trafford Inspector Chief Chris Sutcliffe said the dangers of such events are now 'extremely clear' - and that those attending are putting themselves at a 'life-threatening risk'.

The raves pose many hidden dangers and have been 'fulled by drink and drugs', he said.

In a lengthy statement posted on Twitter, Insp Sutcliffe wrote: "We would ask you to stop and think before taking these risks - you don't want to be the son or daughter who doesn't return to their parents.

"Please don't mistake raves for organised events. The organisers may do their best to look legitimate but all they're after is your money.

"There are no first aiders nearby, no one handing out bottles of water, no one who will help you get home if you lose your friends.

"If someone become ill or injured at an organised event organisers or stewards would help the emergency services to get to them immediately.

"This didn't happen at the event in Carrington last weekend and people almost lost their lives."

Police attend to a teenager stabbed at the Carrington rave (GMP)

GMP released harrowing footage of the moment officers helped save a teenager's life after he was stabbed at the rave.

The 18-year-old victim repeatedly begs officers to save him.

"Please get an ambulance.

"Please, bro, please," he asks of them, "I'm begging you."

Officers had to guide in paramedics and an ambulance couldn't drive up to the scene on brownfield land because of the rough terrain.

Insp Sutcliffe added: "Due to the clear dangers, I am authorising a dispersal order using powers under the Anti-social behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

"This dispersal order covers most of the land surrounding Carrington as outlined in the map and provides officers with powers to move people from an area and direct them not to return for a specified period.

"Those that do not follow this order may be arrested.

"I am taking this step to ensure we do not see a repeat of the incidents of last weekend."

GMP also announced they will close a number of roads in north Manchester this weekend  as they attempt to crack down on illegal parties.

Police say they have picked up intelligence that 'organised criminals' are planning to hold more raves at unnamed locations across the city.
