Huge Aidan Sezer update as Leeds Rhinos halfback delivers concussion verdict

Aidan Sezer could be free to play in the Grand Final after revealing he passed his head injury assessment. The Leeds Rhinos halfback went off and didn't return after being on the receiving end of a late and high tackle by Wigan's John Bateman, which saw the England forward sent off.

Leeds went on to win the game 20-8 without Sezer to book their place at Old Trafford but Sezer was expected to miss out after seemingly failing some of the concussion protocols in place. Sky Sports said Sezer had failed during their broadcast but the Australian insists he had overcome the protocols in place.

"I feel good mate," he said. "It was a pretty heavy knock but I did a few protocols and I felt fine." Asked if he passed his HIA, he said: "Yeah, but the way I presented on the field, I'm not sure, I think someone stepped in and said I couldn't come back on the field. I did a test with our doc and I passed the HIA with flying colours.

"It's always in the back of your mind but you just tick every box as they come. I'm not sure what the week entails with the concussion rules but it's a big game on next week.

"It's a massive game for the club next week, it's not about me but preparing well as a squad. I've got a few hoops to jump through, I'm not sure what it entails because I've never been in this position but we'll see how we go."

His availability would be a huge boost for the Rhinos with Sezer one of only a few people with Grand Final experience in the squad. He was part of the Canberra Raiders side that featured in the 2019 NRL showpiece.
