Huge £60k haul of crack cocaine and heroin seized at train station

Police seized at massive haul of crack cocaine and heroin after stopping and searching two passengers travelling from Liverpool.

The drugs which were destined for the streets of Aberdeen had a street value of £60k, reports The Daily Record.

British Transport Police officers stopped the man and woman at Wigan North Western railway station on yesterday as part of their county lines crackdown.

Two people travelling from Liverpool to the North East, were searched and officers seized drugs worth the estimated five-figure sum.

Pictures of the massive haul show the drugs separated into more than a dozen separate bags which vary in size.

Officers have now confirmed that a 37-year-old man and 36-year-old woman have been charged on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

They both appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 14.

A BTP spokesperson said: “ The seizure was part of an operation by the BTP’s County Lines Task Force to tackle drugs on the railway network, and to protect children and vulnerable adults who are often exploited by gangs into selling or moving drugs.”
