Huge 200-bedroom hotel with shops and offices to be built near Bristol Temple Meads

A massive 200-bedroom hotel with shops and offices is going to be built near Bristol Temple Meads.

Israel’s largest hotel group, Fattal, has signed an agreement to open the venue as part of the Glassfield development on Temple Way.

The hotel will be managed by Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels, and work on the site will begin later this year.

As well as swanky offices, the nine-storey hotel will have a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and a 24-hour reception.

It will also have a garden and courtyard that can be used by guests.

Around 50 jobs will be created when the building opens.

Jason Carruthers, managing director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, said: “This is a truly exciting time as we expand our offering in the UK with this key site in a major city like Bristol.

“Our group of hotels are well-known for their great facilities and excellent customer service, which as individual brands and collectively, continue to perform very strongly."

The site at Glassfields is being leased from pensions and investment company Royal London.

Bristol-based architects AWW are designing the building, which has been "carefully considered" to respect the historic context of the surroundings.

Jason added: “2018 was another year of substantial growth for Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, and we have ambitious plans to continue this in 2019 across the group as we offer an exceptional experience, in fantastic city centre locations across the UK.

“We continue to look to grow and strengthen the Leonardo brand and hotel network and will pursue further appropriate and commercially attractive new potential development and acquisition opportunities as they arise.”
