The Huffington Post UK has appointed Paul Waugh, currently the editor of Politics Home, to lead its expanded political reporting team after May’s general election.
Waugh, a Westminster lobby journalist for 17 years, will continue to contribute to Politics Home and the publisher Dods, where he is editor-in-chief.
HuffPost’s owner AOL recently announced it would be expanding the website’s UK editorial team, doubling the politics and lifestyle staff and preparing for the launch of new parenting and style sections.
I have some news. I will be joining HuffingtonPost UK as their Executive Editor, Politics after the general election.

Prior to Politics Home, Waugh was deputy political editor at the Evening Standard for six years, and held the same post at the Independent for four years. His new title will be executive editor, politics.
Waugh said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Huffington Post UK to lead its political reporting team. Ever since it was launched 10 years ago, HuffPost has established an impressive reputation as a ground-breaking and award-winning source of news and comment.
“Whether it’s Washington or Westminster, politics is central to HuffPost’s unique appeal and I intend to make the site as indispensable in the UK as it is in the US.”
Stephen Hull, HuffPost UK’s editor-in-chief, said: “I am hugely excited to welcome Paul to HuffPost UK. He is a massively respected and established figure in the political world, with great relationships in Westminster and beyond.
“Politics is a critical part of HuffPost’s DNA and I look forward to working with Paul immediately after the general election, when the real business of government is being done as we continue to ramp up our original political coverage.”
AOL announced last month it is closing its ParentDish and MyDaily sites in order to focus on its core brands, which include the HuffPost, TechCrunch and Engadget.
