ST. LOUIS _ Dakota Hudson allowed one hit in six innings and had his first major league RBIs with a two-run single as the Cardinals defeated the Giants, 10-0, at Busch Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
Hudson surrendered a one-out single in the second inning. The only other San Francisco base runners against him came via two walks.
Hudson (15-6) has held opponents scoreless in four of his last five starts, a stretch that has seen him put together a 1.11 ERA.
Paul DeJong hit a two-run homer in the first to launch the offense. The Cardinals collected five singles in the third inning when they scored five runs against Logan Webb.
Hudson's two-out, two-run single marked the end of the day for Webb (1-1).
Rangel Ravelo capped the scoring with his first major league homer, a two-run blast in the eighth inning
Tommy Edman got things started with a double to open the game, and he scored on a single by Paul Goldschmidt before DeJong launched his 26th home run an estimated 436 feet to center field.
The Giants, meanwhile, did not get a runner other than Pillar past first base against Hudson. After walking Brandon Crawford in the second, Hudson retired the next eight hitters.
He walked Crawford again to lead off the fifth and retired the last six hitters he faced. Hudson was removed after throwing 97 pitches.
Genesis Cabrera pitched the final three innings, allowing no runs and three hits with two strikeouts to earn his first save.
