Huddersfield Town join race for bargain League Two attacker also linked to Bristol City and Leeds United

Huddersfield Town have joined the race for Reece Brown.

Bristol City had been linked to the Forest Green Rovers attacker, along with Leeds United and Reading.

Examiner Live report that Huddersfield now lead the race for the attacker's signature, however.

Brown is out of contract at the League Two club and, aged 23, would be available for just a compensation package should he move to another club.

Having been at Forest Green for just two seasons, any compensation due for Brown is unlikely to be a high amount, either.

The Robins have been linked with a move for Brown since April and Bristol Live understands that City have scouted him, although it is unclear how concrete their current interest is.

Brown scored 11 goals and had 15 assists last season to help Forest Green to the play-offs, and manager Mark Cooper has conceded it is unlikely he will stay at the New Lawn.

"I personally can’t see Reece staying," admitted Cooper in an interview with the  Stroud News & Journal .

"I think he will move to a big club and he’s earned that, but he knows if he wants to play this is the best place for him at a lower level, but we can’t compete with big League One and Championship clubs and it will come down to that opportunity and money."

Cooper added: "It's not going to be vast sums of money because he was only with us for two years, but we did everything we could to get him to stay in terms of offering what we offered."
