Huddersfield Town have been fined £50,000 by the Football Association in relation to the club’s pre-season Paddy Power kit stunt.
The Championship club has also been warned over its future conduct after admitting to breaching the FA’s kit and advertising regulations.
The club was criticised after the unveiling of a new home kit featuring a large Paddy Power sash logo in July.
The Terriers wore the shirt in a friendly against Rochdale on 17 July before later announcing the kit was not genuine and would be replaced by a sponsor-less version as part of Paddy Power’s ‘Save Our Shirt’ campaign.
In a statement released on Thursday, an FA spokesperson said: “Huddersfield Town FC has been fined £50,000 and warned as to its future conduct by an independent Regulatory Commission after admitting a charge in relation to The FA’s Kit and Advertising Regulations.
“Playing kit worn by the club’s first team during a pre-season friendly against Rochdale AFC on 17 July 2019 breached FA Regulation C.2(i).”
The FA also branded Huddersfield’s behaviour as “irresponsible”.
The club accepted the governing body's charge of misconduct and did not ask for a personal hearing.
