Teenage talent Evander Grubb has impressed the coaches at Huddersfield Town following his move from Bristol Manor Farm.
The 16-year-old was released by Bristol Rovers last year, but after an impressive start to the season in non-league at The Creek he found his way back into the professional game, earning a two-year scholarship with Championship Huddersfield following a trial.
And the Terriers' head of academy recruitment Lee Mellor believes the club have signed a "gifted" player, confirming the deal on Friday.
“We’re happy to welcome Evander to the academy," he told the club's website.
“He’s an intelligent footballer who has the ability to work out problems on the pitch, and he’s technically gifted too – especially in and around the penalty area.
“Evander is young for his age group but has already acquitted himself very well in senior football for Bristol Manor Farm.
"We still believe there is a lot of development to come from him.”
Grubb, from Radstock, made headlines in September after becoming the youngest scorer in the history of the FA Cup, netting a brace for Manor Farm in a 5-1 win over Cadbury Heath in the preliminary round.
At 16 years and 54 days old, he beat the previous record by nine days.
His former manager at Manor Farm Lee Lashenko knew Grubb would not be a Manor Farm player for long.
“The lad’s got it all it all, he’s a special player," he told Bristol Live after Grubb's record-breaking performance last month.
"He’s far too good a player not to be involved in professional football.
"We know as a club we’re lucky to have him and we’re going to enjoy it while it lasts."
