Huddersfield Town boss names the three Bristol City players his side failed to deal with

Huddersfield Town manager Carlos Corberan was left frustrated as his side lost out against Bristol City at Ashton Gate last night.

Two goals from Famara Diedhiou helped Dean Holden's side to victory, with the Robins moving up to eighth in the Championship table as they held on for the win, despite being put under considerable pressure after Juninho Bacuna halved the deficit in the second half.

Ultimately, Diedhiou's brace, which came in the space of four first-half minutes, proved to be enough to give the Robins all three points.

However, Corberan said it was not just Diedhiou who caused his side problems, with the Huddersfield boss bemoaning his side's defending in the first half at Ashton Gate.

"I think it is important to show our personality. We didn't do the first half that we should do," he said.

“When you concede two goals like that, it’s always going to be difficult to go for the game.

"We didn't defend well enough in the first half and that unbalanced the result of the game.

"We didn't win enough second ball in midfield and let [Kasey] Palmer do too much.

"Our centre-backs were not in good positions for the first goal and that's always going to make it difficult to win games.

"We have the responsibility to do better and to change. [Nahki] Wells and [Kasey] Palmer created a lot of problems and we didn't control the performance of [Famara] Diedhiou."

Understandably, his opposite number was pleased with the win and the performance of his side, with Holden praising his matchwinner Diedhiou, whose future remains unclear as talks over a new contract continue.

"It’s a credit to him, I've said all along that he’s a player that I want to keep at the football club," he said.

"I've got a fantastic relationship with him, a really close relationship. He’s enjoying his football at the moment and you can see that."
