Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley's mind is made up on Leeds United's promotion hopes

Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley is adamant that Leeds United will not miss out on promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Terriers manager made the admission after watching his side go down 2-0 to Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

It was Leeds’ sixth consecutive Championship victory and ensured they took up residence at the top of the table ahead of West Bromwich Albion, who face Swansea City on Sunday lunchtime.

With almost the half-way stage of the season reached, Leeds look a serious bet to end their top-flight exile, meaning they can put last season’s play-off heartache to bed.

Asked if Leeds, who face Hull City at Elland Road on Tuesday night, have the credentials to go all the way this season, Cowley said: “They won’t fall short this season, they won’t fall short this season.

“Marcelo Bielsa is an intelligent manager. He would have realised the reasons why they came up short last season.

“He will understand this league a lot better than maybe he did this time last year and he has got a team now, he has got continuity.

“You look at his team and you can feel it and you can see it that he has got them remote control, and that only comes through good training, constant replication and repetition on the training pitch.

“They have that and are in a very strong position.”
