Huddersfield news: Win over Wolves has restored our belief, says Jan Siewert

Huddersfield Town's first win under Jan Siewert has filled the players with pride and given them belief that the club can ensure Premier League survival, the manager said on Thursday.

A stoppage-time goal from Steve Mounie gave Huddersfield a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday and Siewert, who took over from David Wagner in January, said that the result could breathe life into the bottom club's stuttering campaign.

After 28 games, Huddersfield have 14 points, 13 from the safety zone but the German coach said there was no shortage of confidence after they snapped a 14-match winless run that included 13 defeats.

"What do you think? Of course I believe. They (the players) believe," Siewert told a news conference ahead of Saturday's trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

"They showed it, I think in every game they have showed it. We had an impact in each game and each game is different... they were allowed to be proud and everyone is enjoying it.

"We never underestimated any opponent so we just focus on the work we have to do. I realised that when the boys came in with a smile the next morning and that's what they deserved."

Brighton, who are 16th, come into the game on the back of five defeats in their last six matches and are the only team without a league victory in 2019.
