Huawei fans respond to Google app ban - and they are NOT happy

This morning, Huawei has hit the headlines, as Google has revealed that it is cutting off the smartphone manufacturer’s licence.

The news means that existing Huawei customers won’t be able to update to newer versions of the Android operating system, while new users won’t be able to download Google apps.

This includes some of the most popular apps around, including Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube.

Google’s decision comes after Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at banning Huawei's equipment from US networks.

Unsurprisingly, Huawei users are furious about the news, with several taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

One user wrote: “So basically my Huawei phone is no good anymore then, thanks for that,” while another added: “Now us Huawei peeps what phone will we buy? And don't say Iphone, I ain't boarding.”

Others directed their frustrations at Donald Trump, including one who tweeted: “@realDonaldTrump congrats, you can do only damage to everything you do, touch, speak. Now you buy me and everyone else a new phone.”

Meanwhile, some users expressed concerns about the money they would need to switch to a different smartphone.

One user tweeted: “So android what the f*** do I do with my new Huawei which I am locked into an expensive contract that won't be fit for purpose, and unable to sell my phone because it won't be worth buying? Some answers and strategy would be ideal…”

Another added: “Wow I don't have money for a new phone. Huawei better think of something. Fast!”

If you currently use a Huawei smartphone, you'll still be able to update your phone and apps.

However, you won't be able to update to a newer version of the Android operating system if one becomes available.

Meanwhile, if you were considering upgrading to a Huawei smartphone, it's worth keeping in mind that you won't be able to download Google apps to the device.

This includes Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube and Google's Chrome web browser.
