HSGMC holds executive meeting in Yamunanagar, takes several decisions to manage Gurdwara affairs in Haryana

YAMUNANAGAR: The ad-hoc Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) held its executive meeting subtly at Guru Nanak Girls College, Santpura in Yamunanagar on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by ad-hoc HGSMC president Mahant Karamjit Singh and attended by all the office-bearers.

HSGMC general secretary Gurvinder Singh Dhamija said that as it was the first meeting that went on for a long time, therefore, the media was not invited as its conclusion time was not certain.

About the agenda of the meeting, Dhamija said the management of five Gurdwaras which are under HSGMC was officially taken over, and approval was given to all the proceedings related to HSGMC regarding the case in Supreme Court and Haryana Government further forming ad-hoc committee after recognition. He said a committee has been formed to finalise by-laws and service rules of HSGMC, and the same of Takht Patna Sahib, Delhi, and Amritsar (SGPC) gurdwara committees are being obtained to study them. He said the motive to form HSGMC by-laws and service rules is to bring rationality among the employees of Haryana Gurdwaras. "Some employees are very lowly paid while others are highly paid, so by forming by-laws and service rules, we will bring a rationality so that those receiving low salaries are paid respectively", said Dhamija adding that these laws will be implemented on all the Gurdwaras under HSGMC in Haryana.

Without disclosing the names of committee members, Dhamija said to run HSGMC affairs in a systematic manner, a three-member committee has been formed to form 10 sub-committees in the field of management, administration, revenue, Dharam Prachar (religious preaching), finance, education, health, building, and employees.

He said it has been decided to divide Haryana in four zones for better management of Gurdwaras and religious affairs, and for managing these zones, local committees will be formed comprising an executive member, a general body member, and members of local Sangat (community) who will be assigned the tasks.

Dhamija said services of former members of ad-hoc HSGMC who were nominated as members in 2014 by the Haryana government will also be taken as members in local committees of zones in Haryana and efforts will be made to add them on priority in their concerned areas to share the bigger responsibility.

He said an important and long discussion was held on the issue of excess Siropaos and Rumalas (cloth for covering Guru Granth Sahib) in Gurdwaras.

"We have noticed that Sangat offers Rumalas in Gurdwaras, which are excessively stocked in bundles and come to no use. Similarly, Siropaos are misused. We have resolved to take up this issue with Akal Takht Sahib, to issue some edict for Sangat worldwide to resolve this matter. We have received a suggestion that the Sangat could be asked to deposit the amount for Rumalas rather than offering the same as an item. The Gurdwaras can use those funds for getting the Rumalas as required", said Dhamija.

Present in the meeting included HSGMC (ad-hoc) senior vice-president Bhupinder Singh Assandh, general secretary Gurvinder Singh Dhamija, joint secretary Mohanjit Singh Panipat, executive members Gurbax Singh, Ramnik Singh Maan, Ravinder Kaur Ajrana, Jaswant Singh Kurukshetra, Winner Singh Ambala, and Jagsir Singh Mangeana.
