HSE publish latest vaccine data which shows which jabs everyone in Ireland has and when they got them

The HSE has confirmed that almost 6.2m total vaccines have been administered in Ireland so far.

Of these, 3,447,303 first doses have been given while 2,744,768m people have received the second jab.

Some 88.2% of Irish citizens over the age of 16 have received the vaccine and of this group, 76% are fully vaccinated.

As for the overall population, almost 60% of the total population is now fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to Professor Brian MacCraith, chairperson of the High Level Task Force on Covid-19 Vaccination.

Pfizer remains the most popular option with 4,245,320 vials of that vaccine administered. As for the rest, AstraZeneca (1,186,706), Moderna (535,558) and Janssen (224,487) complete the tally.

Despite the progress in Ireland's vaccination programme, the Delta variant has led to a rise in cases as some 20,000 cases of the disease have been recorded here over the past fortnight, with almost a fifth reported in people who are fully vaccinated.

The national 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population in Ireland stands at 429 today, but some countries are recording rates almost double that.

Donegal remains the toughest hit county nationwide with around 1,300 cases reported over a two week period, according to data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC).

From July 27 until last Sunday, August 8, the 14-day incidence rate in Donegal was 816.

The second-worst county is Mayo with a rate of 645.2.

This is closely followed by Monaghan with a 14-day incidence rate of 643.5.

Making up the other top five worst impacted countries in the last two weeks are Louth (607.5) and Galway (572).

Other counties also above the national average of coronavirus cases in the past fortnight are Sligo (492.9), Cavan (485.7) and Roscommon (484.9).

Five counties in Ireland have rates in excess of 500 in the past fortnight as they continue to struggle to suppress the Delta surge.

On Thursday morning, health authorities will open up the registration process for a COVID-19 vaccine for children and young people age 12-15.

Vaccination appointments for this group will begin this weekend.
