HSE pairs up with Tinder, Hinge and Plenty of Fish to encourage Covid-19 vaccine take-up

The national health service has announced a new campaign that it hopes will encourage Ireland's singletons to get a Covid-19 jab.

The HSE's partnership with a range of dating platforms aims to promote the rollout of the vaccination programme.

Among the sites taking part are Tinder, Match, OKCupid, Hinge and Plenty of Fish, which all fall under the Match Group umbrella.

Starting this week, the ‘For Us All’ campaign will begin being rolled out across the dating sites to encourage users to support and receive their Covid-19 vaccine when it’s offered to them.

People logging in looking to find their perfect match will be met with new features that support the initiative, which will run throughout July.

The dating platforms will share vaccine resources and offer vaccination badges for people to display on their profiles, as well as incentives for those who want to show their support for the jab.

Tinder users can add a variety of stickers to their profiles, while those who support the campaign will be given a free 'Super Like' to show their interest in a potential suitor.

The world's most popular dating app will also launch a 'Vaccine Center' which will link to resources to educate members about inoculations.

The other apps brands will offer similar features, with Hinge encouraging users to share their vaccination status on their profiles and Match, OKCupid and Plenty of Fish also offering badges and free boost options.

The CEO of the HSE, Paul Reid, said pairing up with the dating platforms is "a great way to bring our campaign messages to a wide audience in Ireland".

"The vaccination programme is a really important tool in our battle against Covid-19, and we’ve seen incredible support for the programme among the Irish people since we started," he said.

“Thanks to Match Group, people using their apps can be sure they’re getting information on Covid-19 vaccines from the trusted source of - hse.ie - as well as showing their support for Covid-19 vaccines on their dating profiles."

The head of the company operating the group of sites said it was an "honour" to be part of the Irish government's advocacy endeavours.

Alexandre Lubot, CEO of Match Group EMEA and APAC, said: “Widespread vaccination is a crucial element in getting back to our normal lives as quickly as possible.

"We’re encouraging our users to get their shots so they can once again meet in real life and make meaningful connections.”
