HSBC down as customers locked out of online banking and app

Customers trying to access their HSBC online accounts have been locked out this morning.

Both the website and app services seem to be affected, with complaints on Twitter suggesting there are issues with HSBCnet.

DownDetector, a website that tracks which services are having issues, has spiked with reports from customers.

Since around 9am this morning, around 300 people have complained about the outage relating to HSBC, the Mirror reports.

Most of the (63%) are about online banking not working, while a further 33% are specifically about troubles logging in and 4% are about mobile banking.

One customer @PellsAmanda took to Twitter to ask: "Is HSBCnet broken? We're not able to log in!"

Another @Lemoney_b replied: "Any luck Amanda? I’m having the same problem and am currently on hold with HSBCnet help desk."

A third said: "Bad morning! Lost count of number of times I had to attempt to login."

While someone else tweeted: "Is there a problem with HSBCnet this morning? I am unable to logon anywhere…"

A HSBC UK spokesperson: "The account access issues seen by some business customers lasted for less than half an hour, though some intermittent issues remain so customers may have to retry, we are working to resolve these residual issues.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
